What is your definition of a beautiful state?
Is it peaceful, grateful, loving, caring, or creative..? It could be something different to these or it could be all of them –identify what a beautiful state means to you, know how to get there, and stay there.
Tony Robins (the world’s greatest transformation coach) identified the most important decision anyone to make in life is deciding to live in a beautiful state.
A beautiful state means not suffering.
It means choosing not to engage in negative thinking.
It’s a commitment to live life through the lens of one the beautiful emotions I mentioned above.
Here are 5 ways to help you get there:
Have you noticed the power negative thoughts have on your energy?
Often when you allow negative thoughts to accumulate the body becomes weak, tired, and unmotivated.
Worrying pulls you out of a beautiful state.
Worrying is when you think about events in the future and create mental stories about how things might go wrong.
There is an effective technique to catch negative thoughts before they become harmful, it’s called the 5 second rule – This technique was created by Mel Robins which she writes about in her book “The 5 Second Rule”, I highly recommend you give it a read.
In her book, Mel suggests that when you notice a negative thought, countdown in your head 5…4…3…2…1 and replace the negative thought with a positive one.
The countdown process interrupts the negative spiral your mind is beginning to take and replaces it with positivity. This beats the habit of worrying, and works effectively anywhere, anytime.
Find time for your passions
Passions are hobbies, interest, and curiosities that when given the chance to grow, turn into life-long pursuits. Passions cultivate beautiful states through fulfilment.
Make time in your day for the activities or interests that appeal to you, entertain the curiosities outside your regular day job.
Follow what your hearts wants in life, this is a guaranteed way to lock in a beautiful state mindset.
If the heart wants to travel, travel. If it wants to write, sing, draw, paint, speak – let it.
Chose not to give in to conformity, live the life you came here to live, do the things that make you happy – your heart knows what it wants, listen to it.
Life is beautiful when freedom of expression is allowed, the world needs this, and the world needs you to live beautifully.
So: make time for things that excite and inspire, the mind will flourish, and your experience becomes filled with beauty and love, the world needs this just as much as you.
Exercise is nature’s natural happy drug, its free and available anytime you want, you just have to move.
If you find it difficult to break out of negative moods, or lack energy and focus – move your body!
Exercise fills the brain with feel good chemicals (serotonin, dopamine, norephrine) which instantly shift your mental state from low to high.
Treat exercise as a happy state hacker. Happy state hackers are where you don’t have to think to shift your state, you just move and let the magic happen.
If you find it difficult to exercise, start by finding an activity that exercise is a bi-product of. Examples of this are playing a sport, riding a bike, walking the dog, or swimming.
Exercise is a simple but effective mood booster, don’t overlook the power it has on the brain; make it a daily habit to move the body, and your mind will thank you.

Meditation is training the mind to become less reactive.
The mind is like a muscle, it must be trained daily – mediation is like your mind hitting the gym, some workouts will be harder than others but its consistency of effort that matters.
Meditation has been shown to improve cognitive performances such as attention, memory, and concentration
I notice the difference in my day when I don’t meditate, so I made the choice to make it a daily habit.
You can do the same, it’s a decision that will change your life…
Put a side 20 minutes every morning sit down, and meditate. Simple right?
Living life from a beautiful state requires you to be less reactive to external events, keeping the peace internally when things don’t go your way is vital, meditation will give you this ability.
Allow time until you notice the effects of meditation, it is a practice and as you get better the results will too.
“Trade your expectations for appreciation and your whole world changes in an instant”
– Tony Robbins
Learning to notice, and appreciate the little things in your life can be a small behavioural shift that will deliver maximum results.
Gratitude and appreciation are easy emotional states to get into that instantly put you in a beautiful state, yet people overlook the power of these states. Watch the video below to see what I mean:
Make it a habit every day to show gratitude for something, it could be anything, even something simple as a nice warm coffee in the morning. When you adopt this way of living, how you perceive the world begins to change. Beautiful states no longer become transitory emotions, they emanate from the core emotion of who you are.
This is the essence of life.
